OVERVIEW In 1997 Layne Drilling Zambia, formerly known as Stanley Mining Services Zambia, commenced operations with surface exploration drilling contracts on the famous Zambian copper belt. In 2007 Layne Drilling commenced operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) providing mineral drilling services for one of the largest global mining companies.

Our well established businesses in the region utilise a high quality drill rig fleet and associated support equipment.  A fully equipped mechanical workshop and administration base is located in Ndola whilst fully supported satellite facilities are established at other major sites.

 

OUR PEOPLE Both companies employ a small team of experienced Expatriates and rely heavily on locally trained Zambian and Congolese operators who have developed excellent skills in the field.  Most of the staff are employed as drillers and heavy-duty fitters. The technical and operational team  are supported by a strong administration division and an experienced management team.

The companies have a strong commitment to the ongoing training and development of the local workforce including the implementation of international standard occupational health and safety initiatives for all employees to follow and maintain. Safety reviews and safety system audits are a normal part of the company's operations.
